The Waldinger Corporation Acquires Pro Electric in Kansas City and Southern Missouri
October 1, 2025
The Waldinger Corporation is thrilled to announce it has acquired Pro Electric, a leading provider of commercial and industrial electrical contracting services, with locations in Kansas City, Kansas, and Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Founded by Greg Ohmes in 1976, Pro Electric has grown into a cornerstone of the Kansas City and southern Missouri electrical contracting communities, celebrated for its innovation, technical expertise, and client-first culture.
“Pro Electric is an outstanding electrical contractor with a reputation for excellence and a company culture that makes them an excellent match for Waldinger,” said Blaine Wilcoxson, Waldinger Construction Division President. “Combined, the Waldinger and Pro Electric teams will set the standard for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors in Kansas City and southern Missouri.”
All 400 Pro Electric employees, including 350 skilled union electricians, will remain with the organization as part of the acquisition. Pro Electric President and CEO Richard Barchak will continue to lead the organization, and it will continue to operate under the Pro Electric name in Kansas City and southern Missouri.
“From the beginning, Pro Electric’s success has been driven by our talented team and our commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients,” said Barchak. “Joining forces with Waldinger gives us the ability to provide our employees with a more secure future and even greater opportunities for growth, while expanding the resources we can offer to our clients.”
Waldinger has had a presence in the Kansas City market since 1990 and currently operates in the market as a truck-based MEP service contractor. Additionally, Waldinger is one of two sheet metal contractors working on the large electric vehicle battery plant project currently under construction in De Soto, Kansas. Waldinger has been operating in the southern Missouri market since its 2021 acquisition of Connelly Plumbing and CMI Mechanical.
This is The Waldinger Corporation’s fourth acquisition in 2025, and the second involving the southern Missouri market following the January acquisition of Trinity Electric Company in Springfield. In May, the company acquired Project Design and Piping in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and in June, the company acquired Summit Electric in St. Louis.
